EVALUATION

When I was doing the first task I needed to have a good knowledge of music theory to identify the specific details and techniques that were used in the music its self. I started by looking at and listening to different aspects in the music like ; harmony, melody or dynamics. listened to sections of the song over and over and wrote in detail what I could hear. Then I researched into what I had heard to back up my points and show evidence of it. In my opinion I was successful in doing this task because I wrote in detail what I had heard in these songs with evidence that backs up and shows its reliability. Also I am now able to learn from the techniques that have been used in these songs and apply them in my own compositions

As I started task 2 I found it hard to get the timing of the video and music to stay in sync. although when I did manage to adjust the bars and chords to fit the video I really enjoyed it making the music. One thing I did well was matching the chords in each instruments and making all of the chords, notes, and arpeggios work well together. I enjoyed making the different noises and sound with the different instruments using the effects like reverb and delay and EQ. It was quite a challenge mixing the music to hear every track equally and hear the important melodies to make the music more epic and convincing as a trailer piece. In my opinion I think that I achieved my goal in making a successful trailer composition that could be used by a possibly big production company and if not a smaller one. One thing I did that I think was successful, was the way I used the synths and sound effects for the drops and risers although some of the risers could've been smother or more dramatic by adding a complete silence. I think that my ending was portrayed almost perfectly from transitioning from the huge rise and the massive hits from every instrument into a slow piano playing chords. The ending really brings out the hopeful emotions and makes the listener feel happy and triumphant.

I made the composition to experiment with my capabilities to succeed in making a epic sifi trailer piece. The project could be better by being mixed so the instruments can all be heard equally. For the short term project I was aiming to create an effective and impressive composition. In my opinion my composition has achieved all expected outcomes for this task. there were no unexpected outcomes in my project that I can think of. I think that watching different videos online has helped me achieve my goals by using the knowledge of other composers to complete my own composition. I have learn how to effectively edit the EQ in different sounds and how to use non orchestral instruments like synths and electric guitars with orchestral instruments in a way that it sounds good. this project will benefit me in the future by using it as evidence for my compositions and the skills that I have to become a composer.
